differential.tools — about

Built in practice,
not in a lab.

differential.tools is a suite of browser-based tools for architects, engineers, industrial and computational designers — the people who actively shape the built and physical environment. It started as the software we built for ourselves — to bridge the gaps between teams, tools and workflows — and kept growing until it was worth sharing.

Origin

differential.tools is built by Differential, a computational design and architecture studio. The studio was co-founded in 2021 by Krishna Duddumpudi and Piotr Klushinsky, who had previously worked together in Amsterdam delivering high-profile public and commercial projects.

The tools came from a real place. Collaborating with practices around the world — each with their own software, standards and ways of working — we kept hitting the same wall: teams operating in silos, geometry locked in formats others couldn't open, and communication breaking down at every handoff. Research and development has always been part of how we practice, not a side activity, so we did what we tend to do when something gets in the way — we built our own way around it.

That instinct to question, tinker and build — much of it open-sourced to the community — produced an urban noise simulator, a rainflow tool, grid-shell form-finders, a 3D tile server, an AI Rhino plugin. differential.tools is the next step: taking the tools we built to break down silos and keep teams actively collaborating, and turning them into something any practice can pick up — whatever software they run.

The platform

A model viewer today; a computational suite tomorrow.

The first release is a minimal, fast 3D model viewer for Rhino files — no installs to look, no account to view, everything parsed on your own device. From there it opens up: live Grasshopper streaming, sharing and embedding, and a growing set of cloud and simulation tools built to keep distributed teams working from the same model.

The aim isn't another heavy platform you have to migrate into — it's lightweight tools that meet your existing Rhino and Grasshopper workflow where it already is.

Principles

Your work is yours

Geometry you only view never leaves your device. Anything you save, share or embed is used only to give you that feature — and never to train AI models.

Accessible by default

The studio's mission has always been to democratise computational design and make it accessible globally. The platform follows the same logic: a capable free tier, no gatekeeping to view a model.

Honest about what it is

Measurements and dimensions in the viewer are for reference — useful for understanding a model, not a substitute for verified documentation. We'd rather say that plainly than bury it.

Fast, not heavy

Built for the browser, tuned for real models, designed to get out of your way.

The studio

Differential works at the intersection of design and computer science, using data-driven decisions, bespoke parametric models and multi-objective simulations to optimise projects for architectural practices, design studios and property developers around the world. The studio operates from Warsaw and Melbourne, working with clients and collaborators across Australia, New Zealand, the Middle East and Europe.

differential.tools is where that practice becomes a product.
